I am so excited! New video, and Oct 24 ZOOM concert

Hello friends, we are very excited to share this new video with you.  The title track from our latest Sultans of String album, Refuge not only spotlights the work of Edmar Castaneda — an astonishing Colombian harpist who has reinvented the instrument the world over — but also raises funds for our band’s campaign to aid the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Canada

This song just won Folk Music Ontario’s Songs From the Heart award in the Instrumental category.  Improvising and creating dynamic counterpoint in the track, Castaneda says: “It’s great vibe, the whole tune, the track that I recorded it fits right with the harp, so I’m happy to be part of this. I just added my soul into the track.”

And we are also so excited to share with you our second ever Sultans of String Interactive ZOOM concert. Get your ticket while supplies last!

Sat, October 24, 2020
7:00 – 8:00 PM EDT

TICKETS: https://yallayalla.eventbrite.ca

This is our YALLA YALLA! CD EDITION where we will play all the songs from our second JUNO Award nominated album we created in 2009, including a lot of our favourites, Yalla Yalla, Sable Island, Stomping at the Rex, and Pinball Wizard.

We will be joined on our song Al Vuelo with spectacular flamenco dancer Tamar Ilana!

This is over ZOOM, which is awesome because we will be able to see and hear you, and you can see and hear us, and you can all see each other as well! It is a real show!

So pour yourself a quarantini, and get ready to clap and dance along with our music! Or sit back and relax… Whatever you like!

Tune in 15 minutes early to get settled and chat with our friends. And make sure you have speakers plugged in if you have them!

We have kept the ticket price very low as we know that a lot of our friends are out of work. If that is still a barrier for you then just shoot me an email and I will provide you a comp, no questions asked, while tix remain.

Show will last about an hour, including a talk back portion, so bring your burning questions, as we will be opening up the floor for anyone who has always wanted to ask me (violin), or Kevin Laliberté (guitar), or Drew Birston (bass) about their inspiration, or music, or whatever strikes your fancy.

Thanks and look forward to seeing you all soon!

“This was the best Zoom – online show I have seen. The setting and production values were excellent. It was obvious that time was taken to ensure us of a completely professional concert. Loved the music – hope there are more to come.”
