New single “Hurricane”, Cobalt, USA tour, & Toronto!

Hello friends, we just released our new Sultans of String single “Hurricane” from our upcoming Refuge album, which is an ode to the first immigrants to North America. You can hear it here https://orcd.co/hurricane_sos  This song honours the many who came to the New World planning to work hard, and save up enough to bring their loved ones over. Sometimes it didn’t work out, and partners would pass away before they had the chance to be reunited. Other stories have a happier ending. This is a journey that has repeated many times, right up to the present day, with some of the guest performers on our Refuge project saving up to sponsor their parents to come join them. We sing this song for our parents, our grandparents, and for all those who travel great distances at extreme risk, to make new lives for themselves and their children, and parents.

We continue with shows in Geraldton and Cobalt ON this week as we enter the second week of our Northern Ontario tour, for kids and for the usual adult crowd, follow us on this 5000 km trip through Ontario!

And then later this month a very exciting CD release tour of the US Midwest with one of our exceptional guests from the album, sitar virtuoso Anwar Khurshid, and also Somali-American refugee poet Ifrah Mansour joining us for our Minneapolis release.

And a reminder on May 22 in Toronto – the CD Release concert of a lifetime, the World Music WOODSTOCK of Toronto!  Join us for an unforgettable evening with 15 special guests and counting… come and discover new sounds and artists, and be part of a historic concert, to be filmed for a future TV special!
