CFMA Win Celebration Concert Tomorrow night! (Tuesday)

Hello friends, I am so thrilled and so very grateful, for Sunday I won Producer of the Year at the Canadian Folk Music Awards with our Sultans of String Refuge album, along with co-producer John “Beetle” Bailey!

It has been such a strange year, and in some ways I felt like COVID swallowed up this recording, so it is an extra special treat to be recognized for the work that John and I did, along with fantastic band members and our special guest collaborators. We are really proud of this album.  If you have not heard it yet, you can stream and purchase hard copies here. And we are celebrating in two ways: one is offering a 25% discount code SOS25 for our Canadian friends at the official Canadian store. The other is a special concert tomorrow night!

Come celebrate our win with some amazing music and special guests from the album…

Tuesday 13 APRIL, 2021 at 7:00 pm EST – Livestream Concert!

Part of the SUNY Oswego ARTSwego Series,

I think tickets are $10 USD as the livestream is hosted by the State University of New York. They say you need to ‘register’ for the show but don’t worry, you are not registering for college!  It is just to buy a ticket lol! But you probably can still include it on your resume :)

DESCRIPTION: Sultans of String band members Chris McKhool, Kevin Laliberté and Drew Birston thrill listeners with their genre-hopping fusion of Celtic reels, flamenco, Gypsy jazz, Arabic, Cuban, and South Asian rhythms, while celebrating diversity and creativity with warmth and virtuosity.

The performance will feature songs that speak to the challenges facing the world’s displaced peoples–their stories, their songs, their persistence and their humanity.

Special guests include Ojibway Elder Duke Redbird, flamenco dancer and singer Tamar Ilana, JUNO Award winning Hungarian pianist Robi Botos, Madagascar’s Donné Roberts and Yukiko Tsutsui from Japan.

Live Virtual Performance with Q&A to follow

Hope to see you there!
