Yes, a new album! Sanctuary

Hello friends,

I am so excited to tell you about what we have been quietly working on behind the scenes here:

Sanctuary, the highly anticipated followup to our album Refuge. This ambitious, diverse, inclusive and passionately artistic album puts our band face-to- face with a VIP roster of global ‘ambassadors’, some of whom are recent immigrants and refugees to Canada, as well as important Indigenous voices.  All are masters of world music that tell the story of how to communicate with others through the global language of sound.

And we would love for you to check it out – we have set up an Indiegogo page to help us get started if you are inclined to pre-order or check out some of the other perks like private zoom concerts, coaching, lessons, or 10-year guest-list passes!

Check it here https://igg.me/at/sultansofstring

Sanctuary is the second instalment in our Refuge Project.  Our first, simply entitled Refuge, was heralded as “a fantastic, moving, dreamlike, epic, timely album.” – Ken Micallef (Jazz Times, Stereophile, Downbeat) and won us many awards including Producer of the Year at the Canadian Folk Music Awards, and our track with Béla Fleck and Robi Botos was part of our co-producer John Bailey’s JUNO Award engineering nomination this past weekend.

My own grandfather came to North America as a stow away on a ship in the early 1900s from LEBANON and my pianist mother from EGYPT.  And our percussionist Rosendo ‘Chendy’ Leon came to North America as a refugee from CUBA.
Also the regular band including the fabulous Kevin Laliberté and Drew Birston!

Together we can create beautiful music — THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
