NEW Video, Awards, Shows and Film this week

Hey everyone! I hope you are all well and staying warm!

We had a pretty fun time in Montreal last weekend, showcasing both our live concert and feature film of Walking Through the Fire. Thanks to all who came out!

And then this happened… we won TWO awards from Festivals & Events Ontario! One I share with my brothers Kevin and Drew from Sultans of String, and the other we shared with Shannon Thunderbird to humbly thank her and Marc Meriläinen and Alyssa Delbaere-Sawchuk for the extraordinary year of collaborating and touring with #walkingthroughthefire! We are so grateful for this extraordinary project.

Ans there are two big things happening this week…

Thursday we are performing our first concert at the new Aurora Town Hall Theatre with REFUGE!

Friday we are premiering the Walking Through the Fire film at Burlington Performing Arts Centre

This is a Pay-What-You-Can affair, still celebrating my induction into the Burlington Performing Arts Hall of Fame! A Q&A session follows the film with me and Shannon, and Kate Dickson introducing the film. And John Bailey is coming to help deliver this in full SURROUND SOUND!

I am also playing at Burlington PAC with REFUGE on May 6 for STUDENTS.

Teachers, sign up today for these special shows. This is what one of our concerts looks like, shot last week in Kitchener… Make sure your sound is on haha!

and we have a new VIDEO

With Joseé Bourgeois – Dance & choreography, Don Ross – Baritone Guitar, MJ Dandeneau – Fretless Bass

FROM FEATURED DANCER JOSEE BOURGEOIS: “Today’s realities call for Indigenous people all over to be at the forefront of shaping the stories that create learning opportunities for others to understand better the truths of this country, Canada. Many forms of Colonisation have spread and ingrained themselves into the fabric of society. It is a known fact how systemic racism and genocidal government policies enable the continuation of modern-day attempts at erasure of indigenous identity. As an artist who has established a reputation as an advocate both on and off the stage, I take great pride and responsibility in using my creative energies to create pieces that affect an audience with feelings of awareness and desire to change perspective.

Here we are at Folk Alliance in Montreal…

Enjoy the snow while it lasts (Says puppy Zafinna!)

As always, we thank you for following along, and look forward to seeing you on the road!
